Tonnage Tournament 2009

The Tonnage Tournament is held on the Mississippi river the first Saturday of August

in Cassville, Wisconsin. The first Tournament was in 1987 and the popularity has grown immensely.

 It is a fun tournament where you weigh in whatever you catch as long as you abide by

Wisconsin State fishing regulations.  Teams are 2 persons per boat, fishing time is 9am to 3 pm.

2009 only brought 63 boats whereas it has been as high as about 85. Wind and cool temps hampered

the catch. All summer has been poor fishing and Aug 1 was no different. Usually it takes over

100 lbs to win, this year the winning weight was only 76 lbs.
